A family of four was killed after their car ran into a school bus. Two people, the bus driver and an elementary school student, were on the bus at the time. The bus driver and the student suffered only minor injuries, reports a NY City Car Accident Lawyer. Law enforcement officials do not have all the details needed to explain why this tragic accident occurred, but they believe the car was speeding at the time.
The accident occurred in Ash, North Carolina on a quiet country road. The family, which included a husband, wife and two small children were in a car alongside the school bus. The husband, who was driving, may have sped up to pass the bus when the accident occurred. The husband, age 31, the wife, age 30 and two children, ages 6 and 9 were pronounced dead at the scene. The bus driver, age 61 and the young student were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. It is unclear when the bus driver and child were released from the hospital and if they will need further treatment for their injuries.
Law enforcement officials are still investigating this case as they are unsure how the accident occurred. The bus was found on the roadside shoulder in a ditch which could indicate that it was pushed by the car. It appears the car crossed the center line and entered the school bus’s lane. Whether this was intentional or not is still being investigated. The driver of the car may have momentarily taken his eyes off the road or swerved too quickly to get around the bus.
