Two drivers, both from Long Island, suffered a head-on collision on the Long Island Expressway, according to a New York Car Accident Lawyer. One of them was later charged with drunken driving and was driving the wrong way, police said. Not only did the cars collide, but there was an explosion as well. Both men were in critical condition, due to the accident.
A 30-year-old Hempstead man and a 64-year-old man from Greenlawn were taken to New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens in Flushing after the early morning crash between Exits 24 and 25, sources in the NYPD told a New York Injury Lawyer.
Police told a New York Car Accident Lawyer that the Hempstead man was intoxicated and driving above the speed limit when he drove his Mercedes west on the eastbound side of the highway. He crashed into the man from Greenlawn, who was driving a Super Shuttle, a vehicle used to transport passengers to and from the airport. There were no passengers in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
